The Sarandons hail from Toronto. Influences like Wilco, The Band, Kurt Vile, Dr Dog, Dylan and The War on Drugs percolate through their brand of rock & roll, which spans neo-psychedelia, roots rock, Americana and indie rock. Formed in early 2018, The Sarandons is the fully collaborative endeavour of Toronto music stalwarts Damian Coleman (vocals, bass), Edmund Cummings (vocals, keys), Craig Keeney (lead guitar), Phil Skot (drums) and Dave Suchon (vocals, guitar). With strong ties to Toronto’s west end music scene, The Sarandons are vying for the title of official band to The Junction.

The textured sound of The Sarandons is defined by the seamless interplay between Keeney’s dripping guitar tones and Cummings’ undulating keyboard melodies, Coleman’s truculent bass locked into Skot’s compositional drumming, and plaintive harmonies between Suchon, Cummings and Coleman. The Sarandons’ songs place the listener in a bittersweet world rich with nostalgia and tell stories that are familiar but just out of reach. While loose and lo-fi, their music is succinct and fastidiously arranged with action packed songs topping out at the 3-4 minute mark.

The Sarandons released their debut self-titled EP in December 2019. The record features 6 original songs recorded between Union Sound Company and Green Awning Pines with mixing and production by Chris Stringer and Josh Bowman. The record will be released digitally and will also have a limited vinyl pressing. The first single and video from the album, “Worse or For Better”, directed and edited by Ryan Thompson RTC, was released in October 2019.
